Tim Motchman Carvings - Inspirations from the sky

Sky

To Tim birds simply represent freedom to move, to live, to challenge.  In his carvings of birds Tim strives to bring out the themes of power, intelligence, grace and delicacy.  Whether it is a lifesize eagle or a tiny wren, each carving attempts to express a deepseated awe and respect.

Fragile yet totally suited for their world Birds are an ongoing challenge. How to express with a piece of wood something as delicate as a feather or as powerful as a diving hawk.  Through observation, thought and constant effort Tim explores the sky and its creatures.

These Cedar Visions from the sky are based on numerous close personal encounters with bird life.  Birds engaged in their day to day life at home in their environment.  Experiences gained by time spent on the coast in its wild and lonely places.  Where nature in its raw powerful beauty is front and center.

The goal is to create pieces of singular beauty that move the viewer.

The challenge and effort is constant.
